This is Duke, a 15 month old neutered, vaccinated and chipped male who we are told is an Akita x Belgian Malinois.

Duke is looking for a forever home now, with at least one other high energy, friendly neutered dog that will keep Duke on his toes and happy to play a lot. Duke plays pretty rough and the female dogs he lives with just avoid him, he is very intelligent and under normal circumstances would be great at working in some way, but he is incredibly nervous. He's used to a real countryside life, with 2 big walks every day and will definitely need at least that going forward, plus plenty of mental stimulation.

Duke has separation anxiety when he's left alone, he will chew skirting boards, radiators etc and even if crated will still have a go at the bars. He currently can't be left alone with the female dogs as he's just too much for them, so will need someone who is home a lot and willing to put in a lot of training with him and serious work with the separation anxiety. If you're in another room without him, he does whine to get to you. Due to being separated, it's hard to say if it will improve when he's fully integrated into a home but it is likely it will be easier.

Duke is fine with older, dog savvy kids, he is still mouthy though so this again will need work, we wouldn't be able to place him with any small children due to this.

If you have a very active home, where you are home a lot and have other playful dogs, he will eventually make the most wonderful dog with the time and proper training.

Duke does live with a very very dog savvy cat, so although he would be much better in a home without cats, if the perfect home is out there with a super confident cat that will stand up to him, we would consider that.

He is in currently around the Burton/Uttoxeter area and potential adopter would need to travel to meet him.
