Fostering is one of the most important parts of the rescue process. It is usually the first step for a rescue dog, on their way to a new life. Often times, the foster is the person (or people) who show a dog they can be safe, loved and happy. Fosters provide a home, walks, cuddles, and food for a dog in need while they wait to start their new life. Many of the dogs who come into rescue are at risk of being abused or put to sleep, so fosters literally save lives! If you would like to apply to foster, please read the guide below, and follow the link at the bottom of the page.

The Process:

  • Apply. Complete the foster application. (link at the bottom of the page)
  • Home check. Once you've applied, we will request a home check. This will be carried out either by one of our staff, or one of the many volunteers who are located all over the country.
  • Placement. Once you've passed your home check, one of our staff will be in touch about a dog in need of foster who fits your circumstances.

Before applying to foster, please consider the following things:

  • Time - Do you have the time per day your foster dog will need?
  • Money - Are you able to provide food and other daily expenses for your foster dog? (treats, brushes etc)
  • Patience - Are you able to give your foster dog the time and patience he/she needs while they settle into life with you?
  • Space - Do you have enough space in your home, garden, and heart for your foster dog?
