About Bambi

**Bambi is now in a foster to adopt home**

She is a 9 month old Miniature Pinscher.

She's a lovely, cuddly little girl, but that being said, she needs a very specific forever home. PLEASE ensure you read the whole post before applying.

Bambi is recovering from a broken leg which required surgery and a plate putting into her leg. While she is recovering well, she still needs warm and cold compresses, massages, and gentle physio exercises daily. Our vets at Brightside will be more than happy to guide you through and support you with this, and this will all be covered by the charity, but any potential applicants will need to be close to Swadlincote and able to commit to regular vet visits over the next few months.

Bambi is quite a nervous girl, and while her confidence has come on in leaps and bounds while she's been with us, she still needs patience and reassurance while she learns how to "be a dog". This will include persistence in reinforcing her house training; she is now 99% consistent with going outside, but poor weather or stressful/new situations might set her back temporarily. She takes a lot of her confidence from the other dogs in her foster home, and will absolutely need at least one in her new home. However, due to her size and her ongoing recovery from surgery, it would need to be another small dog or dogs. She loves to play once she comes out of her shell, and shares her toys well with the other dogs. All other resident dogs MUST be spayed/neutered.

She is fine with cats, and could potentially live with quiet, gentle, dog-savvy children over ten years old, but she will need the children to understand that they will need to let her come to them in her own time. Initially, in a new situation, she bonds very closely to just one member of the household, then slowly explores out from them until she feels more comfortable.

She suffers from separation anxiety. Again, this is something that is being worked on, and applicants will need to commit to continuing to calmly and consistently work on this. If left with other dogs for company, she is okay to be left for a few hours. She is currently crated when left home alone, as we cannot risk her damaging her leg while unattended, and she settles well in it.

However, she would not cope with being left for longer than a couple of hours, or on a regular basis, so would need someone who is home much of the time.

She has not yet been spayed, as her leg surgery had to take priority, so she will go to her new home on a strict spay contract. She also has a small, harmless hernia which will be fixed when she is spayed. This will all be included in her adoption donation, but must be done at Bright Side vets in Swadlincote.

She is vaccinated and chipped.

Her adoption donation is £500. This is an increase on the normal puppy donation of £300 solely due to her operation cost, which was over £2000.

Applications via the form on www.harleyshounds.org ONLY please.
