About Ken

He's just Ken

If you want a cat that looks like an overcooked chicken and acts like a dog, this could be the one for you!

Ken is a beautiful - but very high maintenance - 18 month old Sphynx cat.

He's most often found on a radiator, roasting his little plucked chicken body, or hiding under a blanket (just mind you don't accidentally squash him!). He also loves to cuddle up on a warm lap, and will curl up under the duvet with you at bedtime.

He's not a typical, independent cat. He's quite a needy boy (you'll never pee alone again), so would need someone who is home at least some of the time, and is happy to share their space with him near-constantly.

He also has very little bite and claw inhibition while playing - while this is slowly improving, for this reason, he would need to go to a home without any children under 11.

He would love to have young, playful kitty friends to live with, but he can be a bit of a pest to older, quieter cats who don't appreciate his boisterous behaviour.

He has 5 cat-savvy dogs in his foster home, so could also live with cat-savvy dogs in his new home, subject to proper introductions.

Some things any applicants will need to be aware of:

Ken (previously Smokey) came into rescue with a bad case of giardia, which is now fully cleared. However, it has led to some ongoing digestive sensitives. For this reason, he must be kept on a raw diet, with which he has no symptoms at all. Unfortunately, if fed "conventional" cat food, he suffers from fairly explosive tummy troubles. (He's very food motivated, so care will need to be taken to keep human food away, too!)

He will need regular baths, ear cleaning, and nail trimming. Due to having no fur coat of his own, he does need a little outside help to keep warm. He will come with clothes, as he has quite the wardrobe!

While he does not shed, he does leave oil stains anywhere he lays, even when freshly washed. Sometimes it washes out... but sometimes it doesn't. So if you're precious about your cream sofas or white bed linens, this isn't the cat for you, because he will stain everything you love and feel no remorse at all.

His current foster home have a Sphynx also rescued via Harleys, with similar issues to Ken, and will be happy to support and advise the new owners.

He will come on a two week foster to adopt contract.

Ken is neutered and microchipped, but will need to have his vaccinations completed at Brightside Vets in Swadlincote. This will be covered by the charity.
