About Roxy

Roxy is a nearly 5 year old collie, she's a absolutely beautiful natured girl to her people, extremely loving and wants fuss all the time.

She's great on the lead, if she does start to pull a little she listens well, but always wants to be slightly ahead and not to heel. Roxy is also fine to be left for around 4 hours at a time, she's clean in the house, doesn't chew, and just sits and patiently waits for her person to come home.

As far as collies go, she's quite a tall girl and from working stock, she definitely has the real shifty collie eyes around cats and although she's always lived with one, I don't think I could confidently say she wouldn't chase/herd another one as she is very focused on them. She's currently weighing in at 23kg, so does need to lose a couple of kg, but with regular walks and a better food she's already dropping it down. She's now on Arden Grange light food, and has to have a slow feeder bowl as she near on inhales her meals without it.

Roxy is extremely food obsessed, she is looking for it constantly and will eat anything at all whether it's fruit, veg, crumbs, whatever lands on the floor. She's also a counter surfer so will need a home where food isn't left out on the sides. If she's caught in the act, she's very easily told no and listens well, but then will still be keeping a close eye on where the next crumb falls.

Roxy loves her toys, she plays gently and would be fine to live with dog savvy kids around 8 plus.

She has quite a nervous temperament meeting new people, she will bark (loudly) at men coming towards her and hides behind the fosters legs, she's never bitten or bared teeth, but she would definitely rather they didn't approach her. She will also bark whenever anyone comes through the door, and if it knocks/bell rings.

With other dogs, Roxy is quite hit and miss. She's always very excited to see them from a distance, and will bark when on the lead until she's close enough to have a good sniff. She's usually very friendly with them, but on 2 occasions has gone for other dogs which may just be due to her being on lead, but we think she will need to be an only dog, or with another collie with an experienced owner.

Apart from being a little overweight, she's in good health and a really very sweet girl, she just needs an active home that understands collies, and will guide her through her nervous moments.

Roxy has been neutered today, and has started her vaccinations. She will need to return in 3 weeks for her second vaccination, this will be included in her adoption donation of £200.

Roxy is in foster in Branston, and ideally needs to be into her new home by the 15th as her foster is away for the weekend. She will initially come on a 2 week trial before adoption.
